Program
The lecture discusses two important fields of biostatistics: Epidemiological and clinical studies. The first part, taught by Prof. Held, deals with the analysis of case-control and cohort studies.
The most relevant measures of effect (odds and rate ratios) are introduced, and methods for adjusting
for confounders (Mantel-Haenszel, regression) are thoroughly discussed.
In the second part, taught by Dr. Rufibach, methods from clinical trials such as
planning, conduct and analysis of randomized trials, sample size computations, equivalence and
sequential tests are discussed.
